Starboard, the Creative Writing Club at DHS is starting on Tuesday, October 22!  Room 112 from 3:00-4:30. It will be a great way to meet with other writers, and share our work.  Questions? See Mrs. Marsh or Evan Colby for details.
The DHS Fishing Club will meet Thursday, October 17th in Mr. Lindke’s room, 485. Anyone interested in learning how to tie flies, cast a fly rod, or even fish for trout in Mill Creek is welcome to attend. No experience required.
Seniors – More college visits this week – Tuesday, 10/15, Savannah College of Art & Design, Baldwin Wallace Univ. and U of M Flint, Wednesday, 10/16, University of Vermont and Thursday 10/17 Grand Valley State Univ.  – Sign up in the Counseling Office
Seniors are you interested in a $180,000.00 scholarship for college?  Sergeant Diaz with the US Marines will be here on Wednesday 10/16, to talk about the NROTC Scholarship. – Sign up in the Counseling Office.
Model UN is selling baked goods and candy for $1.  Stop by a table before school, or buy from any Model UN student. 
If you are interested in Track & Field, look for flyers that can give you the Remind code for any upcoming events or information.  Conditioning will be starting the of November 4th. There will be a couple of team get togethers available before then. The first would be the cross country meet at Hudson Mills this Thursday, October 17, after school. If you are available, we’d love to see you out there supporting the men’s and women’s cross country teams as they compete!
There will be a Women in Science meeting this Friday in Mrs. Tracy’s room at 7:15am. The Humane Society will be doing a presentation on careers with animals, and a rescue dog will be there as well – so please be on time! Hope to see you there!

Reminder for those going on the Holocaust History trip this summer.  There is a parent meeting on Thursday October 10th at 6 pm in room 575.  Student attendance is optional.  
Seniors: There will be no college application help in the library tomorrow, Thursday, Oct. 11th. Our last day will be Monday, Oct. 14th. Work on your applications and update Naviance over the weekend and bring your questions on Monday. You must check-in with your teacher and get permission before coming to the library. 
Also, you need to send your official ACT or SAT scores from College Board over the weekend so they will be sent in time for the November 1st deadline. Your counselor can not send official scores!! 
Attention DHS the first Off-Cue Improv show is THIS Friday at 7pm in the CPA!  Come see your peers act without a script! Tickets are just 5 dollars at the door!

SENIORS…College Application Week will be Monday, October 7th  through Thursday, October 10th & Monday October 14th from 8am-3 pm in the Media Center.

If you are having trouble with your Common Application, trying to navigate Naviance, need to explore your College Board Account and order official SAT scores please come see the counselors during this time frame, or if you just need time to work on your college applications this is the time to do it.  You will have access to all four counselors!!
Things you may need to bring with you:

Debit card to pay for application fees & ordering additional test scores

Know your social security number as most apps will ask for this

Bring your own laptop if you want

Completed resume for Letters of Recommendation
The Early Action deadline is November 1st, 2019 so you have time to get your applications in by this point.  If you need to order SAT/ACT scores, do that ASAP as it does take approximately 2 weeks.

Because of the Staff Meeting, Iron Dread Strength Training will be closed this afternoon Tuesday, Oct 1st.  Iron Dread will also be closed this Thursday, Oct 3rd for an away football game

Attn Jrs: The optional PSAT/NMSQT  will be held on Sat. Oct. 19. Deadline to register through Payschools is Oct. 1st. Students who have already registered can pick up the practice test guide in the counseling office. 
Seniors, if you did not pick up an order form for your senior tee shirt, extras are available in the library.  Orders are due no later than Sept. 27.
The first Model UN meeting will be held in Room 575, Ms. Chea’s room, on Thursday, September 26th until 4:00 pm. 

 

Are you interested in a career in manufacturing? On October 3rd the counseling department will be taking interested students on a field trip to local businesses in downtown Chelsea to check out job/career opportunities such as: Welding, Fabrication, Tool and Die, Machinist and Robotics. If interested sign up in the counseling office, must show a genuine interest in these fields. 
After day 3, fresh have 272 points, soph have 169, jun have 215 and sen have 246.  Tomorrow is 80’s or 90’s day. Starting today you can buy tickets in the student store for $10.  You need to buy guest tickets from the main office.
